Fallen World Writing workshop with Tamsin

This workshop confronts the helplessness many of us feel toward global power structures, and the numbness that sets in when we are trained to be cut off from life.

The struggle right now is a creative struggle: the world has been segmented off, each piece of it has been claimed and removed from the whole. What will we do to bring these pieces together? Only the act of creating will gather us into a new correspondence not governed by ignorance, fear, and denial. We meet each week to discover new ways to create in the face of our helplessness, and act in the face of inaction. This class above all is a place to subvert your old instincts, and choose together to find a new way to live here.

The workshop is led by Tamsin Clement, each Sunday from 10am-12pm. Admission is $10.

Writing out of the Wound: unearthing your creative spark through personal narrative

This course, led by Provo writer Tamsin Clement, explores personal narrative as a way of getting back to oneself. Throughout this course you will learn to trust your creative instincts. You will go back to the wide open spaces of childhood, when creating came naturally to you. Group discussions, creative exercises, guided meditations, and writing assignments will all focus on sharpening your ability to listen to yourself and your environment, to create private meaning from moments. The goal of ‘Writing out of the Wound’ is to find the deeper story of your life, hidden at the site of your greatest sensitivity.

Class runs from 5:30 to 7pm on the first and third Monday of every month. Admission is $10.

Black Dog Writing with Georgia Buchert

Writers and hopefuls!

Please grace us with your presence at Third Space Studios, every 2nd Tuesday from 6:30 till 9:00. We’ll work through a different writing exercise each month, some introspective, some collaborative, all of them fun and experimental. This is a Black Dog Reclamation League project with an aim to help you deepen both your creativity and your connections. As part of our warm-up for each workshop, we’ll begin with pot luck food, music, and conversation at 6:30. From 7:00 to 9:00 we’ll play with words and enjoy whatever we find waiting inside us. Did I mention that this is the cheapest therapy around?

$12

Come and get your write on with workshop facilitator Georgia Buchert, and a circle of new friends.
