During this weekly practice we will learn prayer songs from the Lakota and other native indigenous traditions. We will learn several new songs each week and practice ones from weeks past.
These songs are sung to the beat of the water drum and gourd (rattle). The drum, which represents the heartbeat of Mother Earth, the Divine Mother, pulls us back into our bodies, connecting us more deeply with the aspects of ourselves that need nurturing.
Frequent and consistent singing (especially group singing) helps to open and balance the throat chakra, which is the seat of your self-expression and intuition and the pathway to your creativity.
Come ready to learn, sing, and connect.
We will be sitting on mats on the floor. Please dress in comfortable clothing.
If you can't attend each week, don't worry. We provide song books and review songs, as needed. It's pretty laid back. Just come as you are and share in the music.
$5 - $10 suggested donation to pay for use of the space.
