Much of the world today is dominated by Yang energy - active, ambitious, superficial, and striving. While this energy is a necessary part of life, we can become imbalanced and drained by the endless work and noise.
In Yin Yoga, we slow down, sink deep into the body, and explore passivity, receptivity, and silence. Instead of targeting the superficial muscle layers, we work with the fascia, joints, and connective tissues, holding poses anywhere from one to ten minutes. The benefits of a yin practice include reduced stress, deeper relaxation, increased joint mobility, and greater calm and balance in body and mind.
We will explore the practice and philosophy of Yin Yoga, connecting the physical postures with breathing exercises and meditation.
